History

Mid-Hudson United Methodist Church began in July 1973 when seven Korean immigrant families held their services at Fishkill United Methodist Church in Fishkill, New York. The founding pastor, Rev. Young Joon Cho, simultaneously pastored at Trinity First UMC in Lagrangeville, NY.

In October 1980, Mid-Hudson UMC purchased a church building located at 164 South Cherry St. in Poughkeepsie, NY, where they served God and their community for fourteen years. In October 1994, Mid-Hudson UMC purchased 16-acres of land at 38 Jackson Rd in Poughkeepsie, where they built their current sanctuary and multi-purpose building. Previous pastors included Rev. Poong Cha (1981), Rev. Choong Kim (1987), Rev. Soo Kim (1996) and Rev. Seong Jin (2012).

Rev. Yongyeun Lee and Adam C. Neal, Esq. are the current pastors for both English and Korean language services. Pastor Adam leads weekly services in English, while Pastor Lee leads services in Korean. The church has a large Korean and Korean-American population, along with many members and attendees from all over the world and Hudson Valley region. Members include professionals, retirees, college students, and families with teens and young children.

The church has vibrant children’s, youth and young adult ministries as well as daily morning prayer gatherings, weekly small group Bible studies and weekly Sunday lunches together.
